Founded in 2004 by David and Charles Roanhouse in Springfield, TN, Excel Industries, Inc. came from humble beginnings, starting from scratch in the garages of their homes. The father and son team were passionate about improving the industry and believed that a true crane service company should be something all inclusive, with the customers’ needs being paramount.
With decades of industry experience and real dedication to business ethics, Excel Industries, Inc. has expanded its facility centers and offerings, becoming a premier crane products and service provider, serving some of the largest manufacturing companies in the country. Starting with two employees, Excel Industries, Inc. now retains 30 employees to meet the growing demands of their expanding customer base.

David Roanhouse
President
David Roanhouse has been in the industry for over 20 years. He started his journey in the overhead crane and hoist industry as an in house repair technician. Over the years he has been involved in service, OSHA inspections, manufacturing of bridge cranes, field modernizations, installations, design, and fabrication of special components.
His broad knowledge of the industry allows his customers to get a 360 degree scope of work to make sure nothing is missed in their facility.

Excel Industries, Inc. was Founded by David and Charles Roanhouse based on the philosophy that the customer should be number 1. Starting from scratch in the garage of their homes, the father and son believed that a true service company should be a comprehensive organization with the customers’ needs being paramount. Because of their profound skills and business ethics, the company has grown into a successful business serving some of the largest manufacturing companies in the southeast.
Summer 2004
Excel Industries Inc. moves to Springfield, TN. Continued growth necessitates the move from family owned buildings to a 15,000 Square foot building on North Main Street in Springfield.
Spring 2010
Excel Industries Inc. is on the move again. Buoyed by a successful service department, and a growing demand for their custom manufacturing and fabrication capabilities, the decision is made to move to a 50,000 sq ft manufacturing facility which is now the permanent home for Excel. This new facility is now able to offer better lead times, and everything from complete crane systems to specialty fabrication for our customers. All of Excel’s services are housed out of this location including service, inspections, modernizations, in house repairs, fabrication, and design.
Summer 2013
Box Girder Manufacturing Line: In the summer of 2016 we invested in a state of the art Box Girder Manufacturing Line. This systems gives Excel the ability to produce the best possible product, of any size, in a timely manner.
Summer 2016
First box girder orders being shipped out which included a 45 ton 60′ span, 15 ton 85′ span, and 5 ton monobox 75′ span.
Spring 2017
Excel Industries, Inc. continues to thrive; in 2018 Excel expanded and manufacture more cranes each year. As the years progressed from 2018 to 2023, more customers started to see the benefits of collaborating with Excel. With the added customer growth, Excel started forming key relationships with other companies in the material handling industry. Forming strong bonds within the industry allowed an expanding customer base for Excel all while offering a more diverse market share for the smaller companies. Currently, Excel Industries builds hundreds of cranes a year for over 10 different overhead crane companies and for their own customers in the adjoining states to TN now in 2023. Excel strives to find the root cause of the problem, NOT just be a parts changing company.
Along with strong manufacturing, Excel has continued to grow its Service and Inspections departments. Excel continues to find fresh people in the southeastern market to train Excel’s way to be the best service and inspection departments in the southeast. Here at Excel, we want fresh faces when entering new customers’ sites. It is important to solidify the knowledge, commitments and customer satisfaction on every visit to your facility. We continue to strive to be a real service company with tangible results. Excel strives not to be a part changing company and only guessing how to fix your equipment.
2018 – 2023
Yet again, Excel is growing. With continued customer growth Excel continues to add new members of the Excel Team. Along with keeping up with the demands, Excel Industries has designed in house a new Inspection APP for its customers. With our own program we can help control customers’ equipment problems and keep them informed to keep their employees safe. This app in late 2024 will be released to its customers to use for in house inspections done by its customers’ own employees. Excel continues to strive to help the customer keep their costs down by helping in any way we can.
